~i flew~

i dreamed
i dreamed a dragon's tail that
rocked me gently
like the arms of
the sea.

i screamed
i screamed as the wind did wail of
noble creatures,
flying free.

i danced
i danced in dragon's fire that
burnt my heart and leapt,
still higher,
as the waves crashed down
upon the shore
for these creatures,

believed no more..

i cried
i cried
for memories died and
legends and myths that,
once,
were true.

i sighed
i sighed
and, still, i tried,
to think of the
heat and the
strength
of you.

i burned
i burned
and slowly learned
that human eyes are blind.

i turned
i turned,
my kind i spurned and
opened up a dragon's mind.

i changed
i changed,
there's something strange,
somewhere,
deep inside

i dreamed
i dreamed
the dreams that only
foolish humans dare to hide.

oh, i flew,
i flew!
if they only knew
the treasured gift of flight
and could watch the smokey spirals
twist away into the dragon's night..
